SENI08
The martial arts very own exhibition is over for another year and it appeared the biggest and the best so far. Celebrating its 10th. birthday SENI08 came and went in a blaze of glory (as well as Pain & Glory) wider isles, more visitors and a seminar list to impress, the only down point was who put the Tai Bo area right next to the seminars, how can anyone teach with that level of noise interrupting them. That being said it appeared that all of the seminars were full and enjoyed by everyone taking part. Some of the exhibitors were missing this year and there was a profusion of MMA stands selling copious quantities of equipment, the classical area was busy with demonstrations and the competition area was very busy indeed. Jim Uglow gave an impressive display accompanied by his Sholin Monk house guest who is in the UK for six months and of course we met up with our old friends from MASA, Steve Rowe and Roger Wilkes, who were sharing a stand with Will Henshaw of WOMA once again, Mick Gooch was there with his one finger press up's and Dennis Jones (the samurai on the door) was there as well. all in all another rousing success and yes we'll be at the next one, and the next after that I expect.

Jim Uglow (right) gave a very impressive display. The MASA stand attracted a great many enquiries over the weekend |
The Sidcup Dojo
Recently I was invited to the new dojo in Sidcup where Geoff and Jo Harris have restored an old "Cowshed" into an immaculate dojo, I'm not being disrespectful in using the term cowshed because that's what the former building was known as. The quality of work and materials used are excellent beyond description, the inception is first class, Sidcup can now boast a facility second to none and I assure you all that I have visited a great many dojo's in my time. This article cannot give full praise to the work carried out by Jo and Geoff but anyone living in the Sidcup area should go along and see what first class training conditions and facilities should and can be made to be. Two dojo's and changing/toilet facilities in the ground floor, a third dojo and ancillary rooms on the first floor all finished to a standard that would not be out of place in a 4 star hotel. Well done to both of you and please look out for a full article in MAI in the near future.
